Why muslims think they are not safe here.Why In all terrorist activities their names are there.Why they thought they are victimize,why they think this is not their country.. I was going thru all interviews after recent bomb blast in delhi and after famous batla house encounter, where we lost inspector Mohan Chandra sharma, Raid followed after the arrest of two “innocent” muslims.. Who were very bright student of Jamia university.
Vice Chancelor said Father can't abandon child , and HRD ministry is going to provide them legal ad to fight their case.VC also added in his speech that there is problem in kandhmal ,Karnatka why not police is going and arresting criminals there .. why only muslims… now plz think if my son is involve in antinational activities than should I support him.. country first or blood… I am not justifying Kandhmal and Karnataka but… on the name of muslim please stop creeping… if he was innocent than what he was doing their… and why we need to support him .. why HRD ministry is going to use our fund ..why…???

I was speaking to an US friend yesterday asking her who she will vote for in the next month's presidential election. She replied, "For none. Its not as if any of them (McCain or Obama) really cares for what they need". And so I reminded her that one must vote to at least chose the lesser of the evils.
So you may ask, what is the point I am driving towards. Well it's simple: We get the politicians we deserve. We see the news channels we enjoy.
As sensible Indians we have a clear choice: VOTE and pick up the politicians we have faith in or at least believe can do better (even if marginally) job than the rest of the herd. There are some positive steps in this direction. Professionals Party of India (incidentally, Prakash, who you know, is now going to head its Bangalore unit) is one such outfit which promises to create alternatives for politicians, that is development-focused and not religion/caste/region-focused.
Second on Media: Well the world over, there is good journalism and there is yellow journalism. Much in the manner like you have porn, erotica, fiction, non-fiction and serious literature--and we have a choice to read what pleases. In a similar manner, we gravitate towards one or the other kind of news depending on what we want to believe and what kind of news reporting appeals to our senses. In a democracy, one cannot really stop trash being printed or broadcasted--but if we are intelligent enough we certainly can ignore them. I can tell you, it doesn't take a genius to tell a trashy news channel from a serious one...
I am glad that the GEN-i is THINKING..whatever I have read in the original post and comments is the detailed observation of a disease..as to how the infection has deeply spread into the body..how gravely it is making you paralysed with every passing moment...(except for the one posted by Goldie - where he mentions about the Professionals Party of India and other methods to filter out information being bombarded at oneself)..

@sonal – enough of everytime inserting Dr. Kalam and Mr. Shahrukh Khan anywhere and everywhere there is a topic about muslims..I don’t even dare to identify these great souls with their religion..are you even aware that the fundamentalists don’t even consider them muslims..Just recently 63million pakistanis signed anti-terrorism campaign, declaring – NOT IN OUR NAME..
The common folks...keep their religion to themselves and also enjoy others’ religion by participating in their rituals. It is the hardcore fundamentalists, clrics and fanatics who perceive it as a threat to themselves and want to keep the masses separated. They do so to maintain their supremacy..it is all about exuding power/control over others..and thus they coalesce with the opportunist scoundrels to conspire for that power/control.
They never say they are the ‘minority’ or the ‘victims’, it is the politico-religious elites of those community that for political gains engrave an epitaph.
@rupesh – whats happening at Kandhamal and other places isn’t to be blamed on politicians..we live in a democracy..and if we have to point out at someone for being responsible for this, it has to be us..we, the people are responsible for such happenings..I am sure the day we stop blaming others and start blaming our own selves things will start improving..
About the Batla house incident..give them a fair chance..how are you so sure about them being ‘The’ terroists..we all know how well the police works and we aren’t ignorant about the fake encounters..you just can’t hang someone like that..I am not questioning the efficiency of police dept. but we all know the past track record..
As far as grudge against media is concerned..that they highlight only muslims’ issue..let me remind you of a ‘Dhananjay Chaterjee’..this very media had made him a hero..I completely agree with Goldie when he talks about ignoring the media..but also..like to add that we as an educated lot have the privilege to identify the ‘real’ news from the rot..Let me also remind everyone in this context that we might be a ‘minority’ here as most of the population who is literate (and not educated) doesn’t have the ability to distinguish between issues of real concern and useless news..
It seems to be becoming very long..I might just end it up here abruptly..enquiring as to how should we actually stand up to the ‘rogue’ elements our societal fabric and nip them in the bud..I am looking for a mechanism that would be on parallel of – Preventionn is better than cure’…Yes we all should THINK, be AWAKE, REALISE and AGITATE!
But how?? What should be our next step..to be apart of the change that we want..??
